"Friends
for Fun, Safety, and Knowledge" Welcome to Louisiana's newest chapter of the Gold Wing Road Rider's Association. The LA-O chapter is located in Franklinton, Louisiana and was chartered in June 2004. While the chapter is located in Franklinton our members come from surrounding Louisiana parishes as well as surrounding Mississippi counties. Franklinton is the home of the world's largest free fair, the Washington Parish Free Fair. The Washington Parish Free Fair is located on beautiful grounds in Historic Franklinton and offers visitors a fantastic experience during October of each year.
LA-O Chapter Directors Gladys And Ernest Vernon Welcome to LA-O, Louisiana’s newest GWRRA Chapter. We have been GWRRA members since 1997, owning
a 1986 Aspencade 1200, to which we attached a sidecar in 2000. After several
years, we obtained a 1997 Gold Wing 1500 with a California II sidecar
which we still enjoy today. After riding for quite some time with a nearby
Mississippi chapter, we became Charter members of LA-O when it organized
in June 2004. "Chapter Motto" Motorcycling is a constant learning experience! You'll never know all there is to know about riding, but a year from now, you'll know alot more than you know now!
Mr. Houston
C. Miley Mr. Houston C. Miley, a GWRRA member since January 1, 1997, died suddenly of a blood clot on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at the age of 80. Houston was home recuperating from injuries received on August 16 when a deer ran into him on his Trike while on a ride with friends from Chapter O. Houston was making good progress in his recuperation and was looking forward to the day he could ride again. Houston was very proud of his 2005 Blood Red 1800 Motor Trike. The Trike was fully dressed with safety chrome and necessary “extras” and Houston enjoyed riding it whenever he could. Houston was an active member within LA-O and participated on a regular basis in Chapter meetings, events and rides. He was also a Charter member of Louisiana Chapter O. Originally from Bogalusa, Houston was a resident of Bush the last twelve years. He is survived by his beloved companion Joyce Netherland in addition to a grandson, Trevor Dillon; a daughter, Vivian M. Dillon and her fiancée’ Ricky MacMillian. He is also survived by other family, including two brothers and four sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Houston will be sadly missed.
